Basic Rules

The game is usually played with 2 to 10 players.

A standard 52-card deck is used.

Two players post the small blind and the big blind to start the betting. The big blind is usually twice the small blind.

Each player is dealt four private cards, face down.

  • Pre-Flop: Players bet based on their hole cards.
  • Flop: Three community cards are dealt face up. Players bet.
  • Turn: A fourth community card is dealt face up. Players bet.
  • River: A fifth community card is dealt face up. Players bet.
  • Showdown: If more than one player remains after the final betting round, players reveal their hole cards. The best five-card hand using exactly two hole cards and three community cards wins the pot.
  • Royal Flush: A, K, Q, J, 10 of the same suit.
  • Straight Flush: Five consecutive cards of the same suit.
  • Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same rank.
  • Full House: Three of a kind plus a pair.
  • Flush: Five cards of the same suit.
  • Straight: Five consecutive cards of different suits.
  • Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank.
  • Two Pair: Two different pairs.
  • One Pair: One pair.
  • High Card: Highest card if no other hand is made.
  • Fold: Discard your hand and forfeit the round.
  • Check: Pass the action to the next player without betting.
  • Call: Match the current highest bet.
  • Raise: Increase the bet.

The maximum bet or raise is limited to the size of the pot. To calculate the pot size for a raise, include the amount needed to call first.

The goal is to win chips by having the best hand using exactly two hole cards and three community cards, or by making other players fold before the showdown.
